Over 3,000 objects from around the world exploring the fundamental question of what it means to be human.
A long term project that started with the Collections People Stories ACE Fund back in 2011. I joined the project in October 2012 and worked as the first Horniman Museum in-house photographer all the way through the opening of the World Gallery.
Some impressive numbers that are part of the project:
- Over 4,000 objects were photographed
- Over 50,000 images were taken during the project. Most images were taken as good reference shots by volunteers and staff trained by me
- And I photographed over 3,000 objects following the highest Cultural & Heritage standards.
"The World Gallery is an important reminder that we all share one planet, and that the things that unite us are greater than those that divide us. Promoting understanding between cultures and a sustainable world, the World Gallery could not be more timely or relevant. We are extremely grateful to all of our partners and funders who have made the World Gallery possible, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to this wonderful addition to the Horniman."
